The future of Well Intervention Services using RLWI
In mid November we had a company presentation by FMC Technologies given to us by Bjørn Jahnsen and Lene Olsen.
The presentation started by a short introduction of FMC and its history as a company. With main headquarters in northern Houston, Texas, they are well established worldwide as a leading company within oil and gas equipment and services technology.
They have several branches here in Norway but the main Norwegian office is situated in Kongsberg.
FMC Kongsberg Subsea provide field development engineering and production equipment as wellheads and Xmas trees. They have about 3000 employees worldwide and about 2000 of them are situated in Norway. They are experiencing growth and there are good possibilities for qualified personel to get a job, mainly engeneers.
Riserless Light Well Intervention (RLWI) is a subdivision within FMC Kongsberg and have their offices at Lysaker. Bjørn tells us that this is well maintenance done without the riser system, its cost efficient, and done by a ship. And he tells us about the great earning potensial for the operator: "This is money well spent for the oil companies because the costs can break even after just a week or two after the operation done by RLWI."
The future for these kinds of operation is very good, and as the oil companies are exploring deeper waters the technology demand is increasing. FMC Technologies is a company with a very exciting and promising future.
After the presentation we all enjoyed pizzas and beveragers kindly sponsered by FMC Technologies!
