Treasurer: Martin Kjærsgaard
Secretary: Julie Guttormsen
SPE´s first meeting after the summer break began with a refreshing trip by ferry, to the wonderful diner at Dyna Fyr in the Oslofjord, with approximately 50 SPE participants. Erik Haugane, CEO of Det Norske, a growing Norwegian oil company, held an inspiring talk about the industry and the society. He emphasized that the work done by geologists and geophysicists is genuinely very important, and that the society faces an increased need for oil and gas in the future, and that we all have to learn how to share our resources of energy. The industry´s need for geo scientists is also increasing, a promising reality to job-applying students.
Erik Haugane was later on given an SPE prize for his commitment in the oil business, and we look forward to follow the ongoing positive developments in Det Norske.
During the lovely four-course dinner, representatives from the SPE Oslo student chapter had the opportunity to make contacts with other SPE members. Several positive feedback's were given to the student chapter about its growing publicity at the University of Oslo, and this is something we want to continue working with, to make the organization known to more students.
Several SPE members from different companies wants to visit the University and give presentations about their work, and to talk to us about working opportunities. This is something the board of the Oslo student chapter are very grateful for, and will definitely follow through in the near future. After having a good time and enjoying great food, the evening was closed of by the departure by boat to the Aker harbour.
We would like to thank the SPE Oslo section for a delightful evening, with good conversations, tasteful food and wine and great company!
We look forward to the next events with SPE this fall, and we recommend everyone interested to join us!
